With young stallions the last thing one wants is to be dogmatic, to say some combination is so good or so bad in theory that it should be pursued or avoided in practice. Even AQLAAM’s sire, Oasis Dream, is very much a work in progress.
I would probably avoid breeding mares which themselves trace to Green Desert to AQLAAM as that might be a bit close, but I wouldn’t hesitate to breed other Danzig-line mares to him. As far as what has worked, specifically with Oasis Dream or more generally with Danzig-line sires: the Native Dancer lines, especially Mr. Prospector and Sharpen Up, tend to do very well. Most other Northern Dancer lines seem to work well, especially Nijinsky and Sadler’s Wells; and, of the Nasrullah lines, Mill Reef (Shirley Heights and Darshaan) looks good with Oasis Dream. Again, though, there would be far less to rule out for him than to rule in.
