Two fillies were also born in Ireland, including Ringfort Stud’s N’12 ex OKBA, whose owner Derek Veitch pleasingly commented that she was a “smart 2yo type, very correct, with good walk and healthy“, and “not small for a first foal“. The second one, out of the juvenile winning and Listed placed mare DAFFODIL WALK is reported to be “a good size, with plenty of quality for a first foal“.

The lot also includes four homebreds for Shadwell Stud, where the son of Danzig currently stands his second season at stud, from the twelve private mares that were bred to him in his first season.
Heading the way was NASHEED, a Stakes winning sister of Sakhee, and AL TAMOOH, sister to multiple Stakes winners, who each foaled a bay filly. They were closely followed by MUWAKABA, a precocious niece of Urban Sea, and MOOTEEAH, a winning sister to Group 2 scorer and sire Honolulu, who both had a colt on Monday.

So far, all of MAWATHEEQ’s first reported foals are bay.

This represents over six times AQLAAM‘s 2011 nominations fee, but also nearly five times the average and thirteen times the median of the sale.

LOUKAS, a promising juvenile who had lost his maiden tag on second asking at Ayr, was then sold to race in the USA. He had made his debut there a couple of months later, in the coveted Norfolk Stakes Gr.1, where he had finished an honourable fifth. This victorious 2012 return shows the bay colt is back on top of his game, winning the $58,000 Allowance by a comfortable length and a quarter.

ALMUSAFA, a Shadwell homebred, was herself a debut winner at 2 late November, and went on to a 5th place in the Ginger Brew LR on Chritsmas’ Eve. She made a winning 2012 come back by landing this $53,500 Allowance for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.

Richard Lancaster, the Stud Director has signed a contract on behalf of Shadwell with Pablo Salomone, the owner of Haras Cuatro Piedras while in Uruguay last weekend. Shadwell were sponsoring the Gran Premio Cuidad de Montevideo (Gr.1) Copa Shadwell, one of the races on the card of the Gran Premio Jose Pedro Ramirez (Gr.1) race day at Maronas racecourse in Montevideo.
