GREEN DESERT Stud record
At 28 years of age, GREEN DESERT is truly a stallion with nothing left to prove. The sire of over 170 individual stakes performers and 40 Group or Graded winners, his progeny have so far earned prize money in excess of £35,000,000 and still he continues to produce top class winners. 2010 has seen MARKAB score at the highest level (Haydock Sprint Cup, Gr. 1) and the juvenile filly MAQAASID provided him with yet another Royal Ascot victory (Queen Mary Stakes, Gr. 2).
GREEN DESERT’s numerous stallion sons continue to enhance his reputation as an outstanding sire of sires. Indeed, Shadwell is proud to stand three of his grandsons, all of them Group 1 winning sons of OASIS DREAM. AQLAAM stands alongside GREEN DESERT at Nunnery Stud, NAAQOOS resides at Haras du Mezeray and ARCANO is the newest addition to Derrinstown Stud’s 2011 roster.
Oasis Dream has added to his considerable worldwide success this year, with MIDDAY adding three further Group 1 wins to her resume (following her victories in the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf and Nassau Stakes) and TUSCAN EVENING winning the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes in America.
CAPE CROSS, sire of the brilliant six-time Group 1 winning champion SEA THE STARS, was himself champion European sire of 2009 and previously sired a champion filly in the great OUIJA BOARD. He has enjoyed further Group 1 success in 2010 with the Grand Prix de Paris winner BEHKABAD and the Hong Kong Champion Mile victor ABLE ONE.
INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, sire of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner VALE OF YORK and French Classic winner LAWMAN, also has two Group 1 winners to his credit this year. His juvenile filly HOORAY landed the Cheveley Park Stakes and the Australian filly YOSEI followed up her Group 1 Champagne Stakes victory with a Classic win in the Australian One Thousand Guineas.
